Helical’s integrated EGR cooler system allows for precise control of the exhaust gas being recirculated back to the inlet manifold. The integrated cooler ensures that the hot exhaust gas is cooled, reducing the overall temperature in the combustion chamber which reduces NOx formation.
Helical’s electrically actuated flap valves are integrated into the EGR cooler for control of the short loop/HP EGR and a second electrically actuated valve is used in the downstream of the exhaust system to provide back pressure control for the long loop/LP EGR.
This dual loop system is the most effective at reducing NOx emissions with out compromising on performance.
